Description The New York University Abu Dhabi Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab seeks to hire a post-doctoral researcher to work in any of the lab research areas, to be involved in the development of open source tools and resources, and to work on publications related to their work. CAMeL's mission is research and education in artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on natural language processing, computational linguistics, and data science. The main lab research areas are Arabic natural language processing (orthography normalization, grammatical error correction, morphology tagging, syntax parsing, readability assessment), machine translation, and text analytics. Since its establishment in 2014, the CAMeL Lab has produced over 200 publications and 20 language resources and tools. The lab website is http://www.camel-lab.com/. A strong preference is for individuals with (a) computer science or computer engineering degrees with previous experience in natural language processing; or computational linguistics/language technologies degrees; (b) strong programming skills and machine learning experience; and (c) a research publication record appropriate for the hiring rank. Knowledge of Arabic language is preferred, but not required. Previous work on Arabic NLP is preferred but not required. Description The eBRAIN Lab (https://ebrain4everyone.com) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position, to work in the area of research and development (R&D) of next-generation Edge-AI and Embodied-AI Systems with tiny-LLMs, tiny-VLMs, tiny-VLAs; Agentic-AI systems; and Robust Generative AI targeting hallucination, safety and security issues. Besides robustness, systems should also be optimized for high performance and energy-efficiency to realized efficient Embodied/Edge-AI implementations. A key focus will be on investigating novel methods with strong theoretical foundations as well as their full-system deployment in real-world applications from different fields (like autonomous systems, healthcare, and robotics) with cross-validation. Prof. Shafique’s lab has many-years of R&D experience in cross-layer design and optimization for building energy-efficient and robust brain-inspired, autonomous, and cognitive systems and intelligent vision systems, including efficient learning and inference of complex AI/ML algorithms, specialized neural processing hardware and design tools, and ML security, and their applications in resource-constrained Embodied-AI systems (like autonomous vehicles, UAVs/UGVs, Robotics, smart houses/cities, Wearables, and Healthcare). The long-term vision of the eBRAIN lab is on embedding an energy-efficient and secure electronic brain inside modern cyber-physical systems (CPS) and IoT-Edge devices to enable assistive cognitive technologies that care for / serve humanity and the ecosystem in a safe and green way. The successful applicants will join and drive a number of fascinating projects on designing, implementing, optimizing, prototyping and testing innovative solutions (software, hardware, or both) for the next-generation embodied-AI, GenAI and Agentic-AI systems, targeting high performance & energy-efficiency, robustness, and trustworthiness. A key focus will be on IP generation, patenting, high-quality publications in top-tier ML/AI, Robotics, and Systems conferences, and efficient prototyping for real-world use-cases. The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, research engineers, graduate research students and undergraduate students, to investigate cutting-edge scientific methods and to develop full-system prototypes. The eBRAIN lab offers an excellent working environment with an international team of excellent researchers and engineers, high-tech equipment, and active R&D engagement, thereby providing many development possibilities. The candidates are expected to work in a highly collaborative environment with other lab members and industry collaborators. Requirements: Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Extensive and sound knowledge of ML, AI, DNN, LLMs/VLMs, Multimodal LLMs, RAG, Agentic frameworks, tinyML, ML frameworks (like PyTorch and Tensorflow), and Prototyping ML systems is required. The candidate should demonstrate a solid experience in practical AI/ML system development. Additional knowledge on MLOps, robust/secure computing, Hallucinations and Alignment, privacy-preserving ML, and ML security is highly desirable. Applicants with strong industrial experience and/or with publications at top/A* ML venues (conferences and journals) are highly preferred. Employer Relations & Ecosystem Building Develop and manage employer pipelines and recruiter databases, including corporates, startups, alumni-founded ventures, and global employers, supported by structured databases and systems. Ensure a strong employer experience and long-term engagement with the University by delivering seamless recruitment processes, proactive relationship management, continuous feedback loops, and value-added interactions. Explore new industry partnerships for live projects, research collaborations, and skill development initiatives, including engagements with startups, incubators, and innovation ecosystems. Data, Analytics & Reporting Track, analyze, and report placement metrics, student outcomes, and engagement levels, including internship conversions, placement rates, compensation benchmarks, higher education pathways, and student engagement metrics. Maintain databases covering students, alumni, recruiters, industry partners, and job opportunities, enabling data-driven operations. Leverage data-driven insights to improve program effectiveness and support leadership decisions, including refining placement strategies, identifying industry demand trends, strengthening employer partnerships, and shaping academic and career interventions. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with academic departments to align curricula with evolving industry needs by integrating employability skills, experiential learning, live projects, and entrepreneurial pathways into academic programs to enhance student readiness for diverse career outcomes. Work closely with alumni relations, research, and student services teams to leverage alumni networks, industry insights, research linkages, and student support frameworks in building a holistic career ecosystem. Engage internal and external stakeholders to enhance overall student career outcomes by co-creating initiatives that improve employability and strengthen the University’s reputation within the global talent and innovation ecosystem. Team Leadership & Operations Build and lead high-performing teams across career services, placements, and employer engagement. Manage budgets, resources, and operational efficiency of the function. Foster a culture of innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Qualification Rich experience in career services, placements, corporate relations, or talent development. Global exposure to closing positions outside India, such as in GCC, Singapore, and Malaysia, will be important to create differentiation in outcomes across IBCs. Proven track record in building employer partnerships and achieving strong placement outcomes. Strong understanding of industry hiring trends and employability frameworks.
