Based in Daejeon, Woosong University opened in 1995.
It is based on three adjacent campuses – West, East and Sol Bridge – close to Daejeon Railway state, an important junction in the national network. Most activities are concentrated on the West campus.
The university has a range of schools including software convergence, health and welfare, hotel and culinary, railroad transportation and the graduate school.
They supplement the three specialist international schools – the SolBridge International School of Business, the Endicott School of International Studies and the JW Kim School of Future Studies set up in 2020.
International students have a choice of two residences, the International Dormitory on West Campus and Sol-Geo on the East.
There are two graduation ceremonies each year.

We are seeking an Executive Assistant to work in the Student Services team. This role will support the administrative and operational work of the Directors Office and components of the associated services, including the Creche, Student Support Team, Healthy Campus, Student Helpdesk, Counselling and Student Health Service. The Executive Assistant will work as part of a team a wider administrative team, currently sitting within the Student Support Division. As the Student Services team grows and develops, team structures may evolve in the coming years.

Applicants for the post should have excellent administrative, IT and social media skills, with strong experience in operationalising work and excellent organisational, people and communication skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to work well in a team environment but will also have demonstrated their ability to use their own initiative. They will have experience of completing concurrent tasks within competing deadlines and will have demonstrated excellent attention to detail and accuracy in their output. This team must demonstrate confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions with staff, students and the public.

Salary:

Executive Assistant (2026): €32,855 – €49,419 p.a. (13 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

	Experience supervising or supporting research students (Honours, Masters or PhD) is desirable.
	Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to academic service, governance, and industry engagement.

A Postdoctoral Researcher – Soft Glass and Fibre Development position is available within the ߣߣ��Ƶn Research Council (ARC) funded research program “Breaking through the manufacturing ‘glass ceiling’ for ZBLAN glass fibres”. The aim of this broader program is to develop fluoride glass fibres with significantly improved optical quality, enabling long-distance light transmission, emerging mid-infrared lasers and light sources, with potential use across industries including defence, mining, medical devices, and data communications.

You will undertake high-quality research as part of a collaborative team, while progressively developing your capacity to work independently. You will contribute to the design and delivery of research activities, including experimental design, advanced laboratory techniques and the operation of specialised equipment, to support the successful achievement of project objectives. The role includes analysing and communicating research findings through publications and conference presentations, contributing to research-related teaching activities where appropriate, maintaining accurate research records, and supporting postgraduate students within your area of expertise. You will also participate in research administration, professional development, and collaborative activities across the research group, University and broader research community.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Photonic Materials & Optical Fibres research group at the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) through the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences (PCES) to make significant contributions to the:


	Development of novel and advanced tellurite and fluoride glass compositions
	Development of novel and advanced methods of tellurite and fluoride glass fabrication and processing
	Characterisation of fabricated glass, preforms and fibres to monitor the composition and fabrication development
	Close collaboration with the broader team working on the ZBLAN optical fibres research program.
