After the Diary's speculation last month about whether more UK vice-chancellors would succumb to the attractions of the Association of Commonwealth Universities' conference in Adelaide than made it to Belfast for ACU's last meeting, it turned out to be a close thing: 19 made it Down Under (along with a smattering of deputies) compared with 17 in Belfast two years ago.
