Barcelona to host first applied food emerging technologies workshop

A workshop on applied and emerging technologies in food processing will take place on 5 to 7 July in Barcelona, Spain.

The main aim of the event is to enhance research, promote new ideas in food science and intensify technology transfer to food industries. It will bring together scientists, professionals involved in technology transfer, food industry people, PhD students, and entrepreneurs, will run a series of sessions, roundtables, and prototype demonstration, to discuss the emerging technologies for the following foods:

  • preserves;
  • ready to eat foods;
  • minimally processed foods;
  • dairy foods;
  • vegetable milks;
  • wine.

In addition, the workshop will also present the latest findings of a project funded under the of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), focused on developing and optimising a continuous Ultra High Pressure Homogeniser (UHPH), for application on milks and vegetable milks.

The workshop is organised by the Research Centre and Technology Food Plant (CERPTA) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Catalan Institute for Wine (INCAVI)
