The European Commission's Enterprise and Industry DG has issued a call for tenders for a study on certain chemical substances used in toys.
The study has a twofold objective:
- to examine how the limit values for the bioavailability laid down in Annex II.II.3 of Directive on the safety of toys should be revised according to recent scientific knowledge and to examine whether other elements should be added to the list in that annex;
- to examine ways to address the chemical properties in toys intended for children under 36 months or intended to be put in the mouth.
