The second European vascular genomics network conference will take place in Hamburg, Germany, from to 30 September.

Organised by the European vascular genomics network (EVGN), the conference will gather more than 300 scientists from across Europe and worldwide, who are involved in the study of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). It will represent an opportunity to discuss new approaches and emerging experimental results from a genomic perspective, and to hypothesise novel therapeutic avenues within this framework.

The European vascular genomic network is an initiative funded by the European Commission within its Sixth Framework Programme 'life science, genomics and biotechnology for health' sub-section. Bringing together 25 scientific institutions and three companies from nine European countries and Israel, EVGN intends to tackle heart disease by increasing understanding of the molecular basis of these problems, identifying new diagnostic measurements and developing new pharmacological therapies to treat cardiovascular disease.
