The University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, has hit on a novel way to attract students.

It aims to strengthen its computer science department by raising the number of students with excellent maths skills. Potential students who can decode a message composed of a string of digits are guaranteed entrance to the university and a chance to win a C$3,500 (£1,560) scholarship.
