In the framework of the International Year of Deserts and Desertification, civil society organisations have come together to organise an international 'Desertif'actions' forum from 21-23 September in Montpelier, France. Plenary sessions and workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas and plan future activities. The discussions will focus primarily on three key issues:

- drylands and the political agenda at the national and international level;
- the economic potential of dryland areas and increasing local communities' resources:
- strategy of civil society organisations and their national and international networks.
