Brussels, Oct 2005

A European citizens' conference on the city of tomorrow will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 5 December.

The citizens' conference is organised by the RAISE project, funded under the Sixth Framework Programme within the sub-priority on 'global change and ecosystems'. The main aim of the conference is to offer a panel of citizens the possibility to evaluate the acceptance and practical usability of EU research results on urban sustainable development.

26 citizens, one from each of the 25 EU Member States and one from a Candidate Country (Romania), randomly selected among the 570 European applicants that replied to an open call, will be invited to give their opinions about how they see the city of tomorrow, based on a sample of outstanding EU research results and findings.
