Peep was delighted to hear the Conservatives were promising a new "partnership with the professions" this week. Much was said about valuing teachers, but not a word about academics. That is until David Willetts, Shadow Education Secretary, was prompted. "Oh yes, academics too," he muttered sheepishly.
