Long before the single post-16 sector, college chiefs and vice chancellors agree on one thing, the inadequacy of the v-cs' soon-to-be-vacated headquarters. Seeking offices to match his designer tastes and his organisation's aspirations, Association for Colleges chief Roger Ward cased the joint. Not good enough, he felt. Something to do with the lifts, apparently.
