Administrative staff celebrated after receiving notice of a rebate from the Quality Assurance Agency this week. The agency wrote to all institution heads saying it had collected too much money from universities, cash that is languishing in QAA reserves. There's so much of the stuff sloshing about that the QAA plans to give some of it back this year - so it's windfalls all round.
