A farewell service to mark the closure of the Ripon campus of the University College of Ripon and York St John is to be boycotted by the city's mayor.
Councillor Paul Freeman has turned down an invitation to the service at Ripon Cathedral on June 10 on the grounds that "there is no place for celebration".
