The University of Buckingham, Britain's only private university, is trying to raise its proportion of home students. Some think the reason that only 25 per cent of the student body is British is that former chancellor Baroness Thatcher, who pulled in overseas students, turned off UK ones. The vice-chancellor's puppy, Rusty, seems to agree. He has taken to peeing on the bed in the vice-chancellor's cottage where Lady T used to sleep on her visits to the university.
