Move over, Mr Speaker?...

Barry Sheerman, the chairman of the Education and Skills Select Committee, showed himself a stickler for parliamentary etiquette when Ruth Kelly, the Education Secretary, gave evidence last week.

Each time the Right Honourable lady started her reply to an MP's question, Mr Sheerman interrupted her by saying "Education Secretary" when he called her to speak.

Could Mr Sheerman have ambitions to the Speaker's chair or could this be the effect of too many teachers giving evidence to his committee?
