Human Rights Watch has protested to President Bashar al-Asad about the recent wave of arrests of pro-democracy activists in Syria. This includes the detention by the Syrian Air Force Intelligence Agency of eight men - mostly university students - for what appears to be their participation in a peaceful pro-democracy forum.
