Swansea University went all out to score points for hipness last week, with vice-chancellor Richard Davies turning up at a rock concert brandishing awards. Professor Davies took the stage before a Manic Street Preachers concert at Swansea's Branwyn Hall to give the group's founder member, Nicky Wire, an honorary fellowship. But while this sort of award has some cachet, it was not enough to tempt back the group's legendary missing member, Richey Edwards.
