I have the honour and pleasure to transmit to you the report of the Working Group on Domain Re- structuring.

I consider that we have completed our work according to our terms of reference and I trust that the report can now be considered and accepted by the CSO.

I should emphasise that this is the result of intensive work and discussion by all concerned and I want to thank my colleagues on the Working Group for all their efforts and for their positive approach to this difficult task. We arrived at our final conclusions by consensus and this is also an important fact which needs to be recognised.

For myself, it has been a privilege to serve as the Chair and "critical friend" of COST for this task. I have learnt a lot, not only about COST, but also about areas of research with which I was less familiar. It has been a very worthwhile experience.
