The European University Association conference, 'Research in European Universities: Strategies and Funding', will take place in Uppsala, Sweden, from 20 to 22 October.

The conference will address the challenges that European higher education institutions face in terms of cultural, governance and management changes needed, and the impact they have on their research activities. For many institutions, the changes will require the development of strategies and a thorough review of their specific funding and costing structures in relation to their specific profiles.

In this context the conference will assess the current state of system changes for research funding, provide an insight into different practices applied by institutions across Europe, and launch a broad discussion on possible European funding and costing models.
