Researchers have won a grant to explore scientifically the roots of talent and creativity in young dancers.

The Leverhulme Trust has awarded a grant of £183,917 to the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance to fund "dance science" research. The work will investigate dance from physiological, biomechanical and psychological perspectives.

Over three years, researchers will study about 300 dancers aged 11-18 around the country to tease out the characteristics of talent and creativity in dance and the factors that may contribute to their development.
