Aberdeen University's physics department has decided to balance the "serious stuff" on its website with some traditional 1920s jokes about the legendary meanness of Aberdonians. Here's a sample: a company of Americans were touring Scotland and lost their way in the North. Presently, they found themselves in the outskirts of a large city. Stopping their car, they asked a boy the name of the place. "I'll tell ye if ye gie me saxpence," replied the youth. "Drive on!" said the American. "I guess this is Aberdeen."
