Congratulations to Hilary Hurd, who was one of the first recipients of a Daphne Jackson fellowship and now, 12 years later, has been appointed professor of parasitology at Keele University.
Best wishes also to Adrian Long, dean of engineering at Queen's University, Belfast, who will become president of the Institution of Civil Engineers on November 5.
