A conference entitled 'The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for their Recruitment: turning policy into practice' will take place in London, the UK, on 8 and 9 September. The event is part of the programme of events taking place under the UK Presidency of the EU.

Through a combination of strategic plenary presentations and practical workshops, the conference will enable participants to establish what the Charter and Code entail for Member States, research institutions, industry, higher education institutions and for individual researchers.

The potential benefits, as well as obstacles to the Charter and Code will also be discussed.

Speakers at the conference will include EU Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik, UK Under Secretary of State for Science and Innovation Lord David Sainsbury, and President of the European Universities Association, Professor Georg Winckler.
