Unions face university challenge

Officials from the unions representing staff in higher education are filming University Challenge: The Professionals , due to air on BBC Two late May or early June. The team has already faced the Cabinet Office and is rumoured to be going on to play teams from the Navy, the Women's Institute, journalists, solicitors and vets.

The team comprises: Jane McDoo, president of the Association of University Teachers; Paul Mackney, general secretary of lecturers' union Natfhe; Roger Lyons, joint general secretary of Amicus; and Steve Donnelly of Connect, which represents thousands of telecommunications managers.
