University of Sierra Leone fails to re-open

The University of Sierra Leone failed to re-open for the new academic year. The government of Captain Valentine Strasser ordered it to remain closed so that much-needed renovations could be carried out.

While the university's two sites are in need of repairs, there is a feeling among academic staff that the suspension of studies is a convenient excuse for some other reason for closure. No date for re-opening has been announced.
