A mother and her son have both achieved degrees from the University of Teesside in the same year and will graduate on the same day. Angela Russell, 47, will receive a BSc (hons) in promoting practice effectiveness (leadership and management), while Tom Russell, 23, will receive a BA (hons) in human resource management. Ms Russell said her whole family, including her daughter and husband, were studying at one point: "So we all understood when one of us needed to disappear with the textbooks!".
