A few months after the deadline for transposition, the implementation of the EC Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings ( of 16.12.2002) continues to be a real challenge, and which is directly or indirectly affecting the work of millions of European citizens: architects, engineers, building contractors, material and system suppliers, etc.

In order to improve the information exchange towards all those who want to get a better understanding of the status and progress of implementation, the EC launched the EPBD Buildings Platform in the frame of the EC programme Intelligent Energy - Europe (2003-2006).
