Workshop on research training in nanosciences and nanotechnologies

The European Commission's Research DG is organising a workshop entitled 'research training in nanosciences and nanotechnologies: current status and future needs' on 14 and 15 April in Brussels, Belgium.

While rapid progress is being made in the application of nanotechnology, a problem is looming - that of human resources. Education and training is needed to develop the new generation of researchers, engineers and skilled workers necessary to sustain progress in the field.

The workshop will review the current state-of-the-art in nanotechnology research training, facilitate an effective exchange of information and best practice, assess the current and future needs for research organisations and industry, and develop proposals for possible follow-up initiatives at European level.
