We are seeking to appoint a part-time Teaching Fellow to contribute to teaching in Sociology of Education and/or Critical Studies in Education within the Southampton Education School. This post provides teaching cover, ensuring the continuation of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. About the Role The successful candidate will support the delivery, development and assessment of teaching and learning. This will include contributing to lectures, seminars and tutorials, setting and marking assessments, and providing feedback to students. The postholder will also act as a Personal Academic Tutor and may supervise and assess postgraduate dissertations. You will contribute to curriculum delivery and enhancement, working collaboratively with colleagues to support an inclusive and research-informed learning environment. About You You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD in Education, Sociology or a closely related discipline, alongside experience of teaching in higher education. You should demonstrate: Subject knowledge in Sociology of Education and/or Critical Studies in Education Experience of delivering engaging and inclusive teaching at UG and/or PGT levels Experience in assessment and providing feedback to students at UG and/or PGT levels Experience of supporting students, through personal tutoring or postgraduate supervision Ability to contribute to curriculum development and enhancement at UG and/or PGT levels Experience of engagement with scholarship of teaching and learning would be advantageous. The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking applicants to fill three Tutor/Senior Tutor positions to join our teaching team developing material for the Joint Education Institute (JEI) with Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), China. These three positions are fixed term, three-year, opportunities that are part of a cluster hire in plant and horticulture science and agri-business. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role The purpose of these positions is to support and contribute to teaching within the disciplines of Horticultural and Plant Science and Agribusiness, with a particular focus on undergraduate education. These positions sit within a cluster of hires that will form part of a new collaborative Joint Education Institute (JEI) program between the School of Agriculture and Environment (SAE) at Massey University in New Zealand and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), Yangling, China. The language of instruction will be English and each role includes: With appropriate SAE Manawatu and JEI based academic staff, help create material and curricula for the courses to be taught at NWAFU as part of the JEI. This will be based on existing educational material from our current SAE undergraduate courses taught at the Manawatu campus and adapted to be fit-for-purpose in a Chinese learning context. Develop and co-develop, with current staff, online digital learning resources such as technical guides, fact sheets, short demonstration videos, self-assessment quizzes, interactive modules and laboratory materials and worksheets for the JEI students for whom English will be a second language. The resources need to be pitched at the appropriate level for these learners. Develop and populate individual online learning sites, based on the Massey University STREAM platform for each JEI course, and update as required once developed. Adapt the existing and newly created curriculum for each course from its current 12-week semester structure to NWAFU's 16-week teaching semester. This body of work will ensure that course content, learning activities, and assessments are appropriately aligned with the extended teaching period. Support the teaching JEI staff based at NWAFU to ensure that learning material is fit for purpose and contribute to the ongoing cycle of learning resource review and refresh within the online learning environment. Contribute to feedback, evaluation, and revision processes under the supervision of both Manawatu based SAE and JEI staff after the courses are first taught. Help implement any changes required, which may require some travel.
