École Supérieure en Sciences Appliquées de Tlemcen (ESSAT) was founded in 2009, in the second-largest city in north-western Algeria. Tlemcen is renowned as the capital of Andalusian art in Algeria, and has been dubbed “the African Granada” and “the pearl of the Maghreb”. 
Like other Algerian preparatory schools, ESSAT aims to provide its students with high-level training in scientific and technical disciplines, in order to prepare them for the entrance exams to major engineering schools.  
Subjects on offer include mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, industrial sociology, general economics, technical drawing, English and French. Students are taught over two years, using a combination of theoretical lessons, tutorials and practical work. 
At the end of the two years, students will sit an exam. Those who pass will go on to more specialise study for a further three years.  
In 2016-17, ESSAT opened a three-year engineering and master’s course in electrical engineering. And, from 2017-18, two further specialisms were introduced: automation and industrial and engineering.

Your position:

The Department of History of Christianity and Protestantism in Austria is a sub-unit of the Faculty of Protestant Theology. The vacant position as university assistant (praedoc) serves to strengthen our teaching and research portfolio. We are looking for historically oriented Protestant theologians with a special interest in research questions from the period of Late Antiquity and a willingness to contribute to the editing of articles for the Zeitschrift für Antikes Christentum, preferably documented by an excellent Master's thesis in the field of church history.

Your future tasks:

You will play an active role in research, teaching and administration, i.e:


	You will be involved in research projects and publications on early church history.
	You will work on and complete your dissertation in Church History. We expect you to finalise your dissertation agreement within 6-12 months, and present your research question at national and international conferences.
	You will contribute to the redaction process of articles for the Zeitschrift für Antikes Christentum.
	You will participate in doctoral seminars organised by the Institute and in events of the Vienna Doctoral School of Theology and Research on Religion.
	You will hold independent lectures in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement on topics relating to church history


This is part of your personality:


	Completed Master's degree in Protestant Theology or a corresponding teacher training programme with excellent grades in church history courses (the degree certificate must be available by the date of employment at the latest) or a comparable study programme
	A keen interest in early church history, a willingness to attend and organise national and international conferences and to work in a team, and good IT user skills
	Very good knowledge of ancient Greek and Latin as well as German and English
	High interest in interdisciplinary exchange with neighbouring disciplines (history, philology, etc.)
	Knowledge of the provisions of the collective agreement, namely on church history topics.

Your professional field of activity:

The Kurt Gödel Research Center for Mathematical Logic (KGRC), led by Univ.-Prof. Matthias Aschenbrenner, PhD, is part of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna. We are looking for a Senior Scientist to conduct research in model theory; to initiate an effort in computer-based formalization of foundational concepts and results in model theory, in particular, the theory of o-minimal structures and tame geometry.

To bolster your own agenda, you will be committed to acquiring third party funding for postdoctoral and doctoral positions. You will actively participate in the quality assurance of teaching materials created by the group. Moreover, you share the team’s view on the importance of a positive, inclusive, and respectful working environment, and will regularly exchange ideas about current topics and projects in group meetings and seminars. Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You have an excellent research profile in mathematical logic (model theory).
	You publish in peer-reviewed journals and give presentations at international meetings.

	You are in charge of the scientific coordination of third-party funded projects at the KGRC.

	A research profile in model theory, especially o-minimal structures.
	Outstanding expertise, proven through international publications in leading journals in the field and presentation experience in an international setting.
	Excellent abilities to work in a team.
	Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
	Supervision and experience in teaching of lectures in the area of model theory in both German and English.
	Proven ability to acquire competitive third-party funding is a strong additional asset.
