Istanbul Gedik University

Istanbul Gedik University was established as a vocational school in 2010, and was given university status in 2011.
It is the flagship enterprise of the Gedik Foundation, established in 1994 by a family enterprise with knowledge of welding, materials and metallurgy. 
Students are divided between faculties of fine arts and architecture, law, economic, administrative and social sciences, engineering, health science and sports science. There are also vocational schools offering four-semester programmes which earn admission either into undergraduate courses or the relevant profession. 
Research centres include Turkey’s first Centre for Bangladesh Studies, a Research and Applications Centre for Women’s Entrepreneurship and the Welding Technology Application and Research Centre, which focusses particularly on welding with aluminium.
The university has relationships with more than 40 overseas partners, including Universiteti Barleti in Tirana, Albania, Kazakhstan Information Technology University and Pakistan Superior University.

Oxford Brookes University is seeking to appoint its first Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Following the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor in 2025, Brookes has spent the last year developing Roadmap 2030, building on the vision, mission and guiding principles of Strategy 2035. The Roadmap recognises both the distinctive strengths and opportunities at Brookes and the challenges facing the wider sector. The appointment of a Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor is central to the next stage of that work: helping the University move from roadmap to delivery, strengthening academic leadership and ensuring that ambition is translated into clear priorities, decisions and momentum.

The Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor will provide senior academic leadership across the University. They will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues, lead major academic priorities, support portfolio and planning work, provide oversight of academic performance and assurance and deputise for the Vice-Chancellor internally and externally. This is a new role and one that will develop as Brookes develops, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to help define the role of Provost at the University.

We are looking for a senior academic leader with credibility, sound judgement and a clear understanding of how to turn ambition into delivery in a university context. You may bring experience from a broad institutional role, a major thematic portfolio or significant academic unit leadership. What matters is your ability to work through complexity, build confidence, make progress and bring people with you.

You will be pragmatic, collaborative and delivery-focused, with the ability to work effectively across academic and professional services. The person appointed will have an excellent record in research, scholarship and publication, in teaching and educational innovation, and in academic leadership. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching, research and profile of the university, and to provide ongoing leadership for the discipline.

This is one of three new Health and Wellbeing Professorships in the Faculty of Social Sciences, as part of our commitment to deepen capacity and impact in this field.

Salary:

Professor B: €106,610 – €142,500 p.a. (6 points)

The principal aim of the post is to undertake evidence syntheses that are identified as priorities by the Evidence Synthesis Programme of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), for a range of health care, public health and social care topics. These evidence syntheses will use a variety of methods, including standard systematic reviews but might also include living reviews, qualitative evidence synthesis and some using more complex methods such as individual participant data or network meta-analyses.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new vision for evidence synthesis in the UK, as a member of the Aberdeen Belfast Evidence Collaboration (ABEC) NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group. The Research Fellow will be an active member of the project team that is a joint activity between Queen's University Belfast and the University of Aberdeen. They will also have the opportunity to engage with others in the Centre for Public Health who are working on evidence synthesis in a very wide range of topics.

About the person:

We are looking to hire someone with experience of evidence synthesis who:


	Has or is about to obtain a PhD in a related discipline.
	Has at least 3 years’ research experience in evidence synthesis.
	Has a publication record commensurate with stage of career.
	Has experience of using statistical and software packages relevant to evidence synthesis.
	Is able to deal competently with administrative tasks, with excellent related skills.
	Is an effective team player with the competence and confidence to work on their own and lead research projects or specific research tasks.
	Is able to demonstrate intellectual ability.
	Is able to assess and organise resources.
	Has access to transport or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post and willingness to travel to meet the needs of the post.
