About Miriam College

Basic information and contact details for Miriam College

Miriam College is a Catholic educational institution in the Philippines. The university is known for its rich history, having first been established in 1926 by the Maryknoll Sisters of New York as a teacher-training college. It was renamed “Miriam” in 1989 after Filipino lay administrators took over management from the Maryknoll Sisters. The name honours Mary of Nazareth while also symbolising its distinct Filipino identity.

The University has its main campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City, within Metro Manila’s key academic district. It operates a city campus, with additional satellite campuses including Miriam College Nuvali in Laguna and a developing site in Alviera, Pampanga.

Academically, Miriam College offers programmes from basic education through to graduate and adult education. Miriam is a women’s college at the collegiate level, while its preschool, adult education, and graduate programmes remain co-educational.

Its collegiate academic structure is organised into the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy, and College of Education. Programme offerings include communication and media studies, psychology, social sciences, business and entrepreneurship, education, and environmental studies, amongst others.

Student life is shaped by advocacy-based and community-engaged programmes, supported by institutional centres such as the Centre for Peace Education, Women and Gender Institute, Environmental Studies Institute, and institutional social action networks. The college also encourages volunteering and community outreach through structured engagement programmes and service-learning initiatives.

Research and innovation are supported through specialised facilities such as the Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Centre (DREAM Lab), which promotes interdisciplinary learning in design, robotics, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
