The National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya was named after the 19th Century surgeon and pioneer of anaesthesia Nikolay Pirogov.��
It has been providing medical education in Vinnytsia since 1921. It attained university status in 1994 and National status in 2002.
It offers courses in medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, medical psychology and pharmacy.��
There are also Institutes for Postgraduate Education, Training Foreign Students, and Public Health. Their courses include work at 24 medical and preventative institutions in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr.��
There is a long tradition of international links, with the first overseas students admitted in 1961, their preparatory faculty formed in 1979 and the partnership with the University of Munster, Germany dating to 1993. There are four dedicated hostels for international students.

Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science

The Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) (retitled from the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics in July 2026) is a world-leading academic organisation for education and research in geomatics and related fields. The Department is dedicated to the acquisition, modelling, analysis and management of spatially referenced data for a wide range of applications in land surveying, geo-information technology and smart cities. The Department offers a range of academic programmes for both local and overseas students, including the��Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics / Urban Informatics and Smart Cities,��Master of Science in Geomatics / Urban Informatics and Smart Cities, and��Doctor/Master of Philosophy.

The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Head of Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science. The successful candidate will be appointed Chair Professor/Professor normally on regular terms of appointment (equivalent to tenured professorship), commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience, and will hold a concurrent headship appointment. The concurrent headship appointment is normally for an aggregate period of six years in two three-year terms of office. Other suitable candidate(s) from the search, if deemed appropriate by the University, may be appointed Chair Professor/Professor if not Head of Department.��

Job Functions

The position calls for a visionary academic leader with responsibilities of ensuring the smooth and successful operation and sustainable development of the Department. Reporting directly to the Dean of Faculty of Construction and Environment, the appointee will be required to:

(a) �� ��provide effective leadership in the development of long-term strategies and plans of the Department in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan; and coach and empower subordinates so that they can accomplish planned objectives with world-class standards and in an effective and efficient manner;

(b) �� ��ensure high-quality teaching as well as holistic development of the students, and align the Department’s programmes with the needs of the community;��

(c) �� ��facilitate the conduct of innovative and original research of high quality and impact, and promote and develop genuine interdisciplinary / departmental research with the optimal use of research funds;��

(d) �� ��provide leadership in technology development, commercialisation and entrepreneurship initiatives to extend the impact of research outcomes of the University to the community;

(e) �� ��provide leadership in developing a strong network of partnership with leading tertiary institutions for opportunities and collaboration in education, research and knowledge transfer activities;

(f) �� ��enhance the local and international networks of partnerships and linkages with the community, particularly the professional, public and business sectors, so as to gain their support for the major strategic initiatives of the University;��

(g)�� ��ensure effective internal communication that leads to a transparent decision-making process and promote the Department’s strengths and other services to all relevant stakeholders;

(h)�� ��ensure optimal deployment of human, financial and other resources in the Department;

(i) �� ��implement an effective mechanism to acquire donations and other forms of sponsorship to support the University’s pursuits and long-term development; and

(j)�� �� undertake other duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or the Central Management Team of the University as required.

Qualifications��

Applicants should have:

(a) �� ��academic qualifications at the doctoral level in closely related disciplines, evidence of eminent scholarship and substantial relevant experience in a senior academic position, and relevant professional qualifications where appropriate;

(b) �� ��attainment of an academic rank of full professor or above at an internationally recognised university;

(c) �� ��a distinguished international reputation in research and scholarship, and demonstrated leadership in any one or more of the specialist areas of (i) Space & Planetary Technology, (ii) Earth Observation & Climate Resilience, (iii) Geospatial Intelligence, (iv) Smart Cities, (v) Spatial Data Science, and (vi) Sensing and Imaging for Robotics, or other related fields;

(d) �� ��a strong record in attracting competitive or/and interdisciplinary research funding;

(e) �� ��a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching;

(f)�� �� ��a global perspective, proven qualities of academic leadership, and substantial administration / management experience, as well as demonstrated ability of building up a strong team of faculty members with different professional, research and cultural backgrounds;��

(g) �� ��effective interpersonal communication and resources management skills, and excellent adaptability to changes and challenges;��

(h) �� ��good knowledge of the higher educational environment in the local and global context, and preferably strong industrial experience; and

(i)�� �� ��a high standard of personal integrity.

About the Role

As the Senior Technical Officer - High Temperature Processing Laboratory, you will provide high-level technical support across the Robert Simpson High Temperature Processing Laboratory, Solar Thermal Research Laboratory and affiliated facilities. Supporting students, researchers and academic staff, you will coordinate laboratory operations, deliver specialist technical advice and training, maintain advanced laboratory equipment, and ensure laboratories operate safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Fluid and Process Dynamics Group and broader research community, you will play a key role in enabling world-class teaching, research and innovation in engineering.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:


	Proven experience operating instrumentation and techniques for high temperature material characterization in a research laboratory environment.
	Experience in operating high temperature furnaces such as vertical and horizontal tube resistance furnaces, muffle and oven furnaces, and induction furnace.
	Experience in the setup and operation of vacuum pumps and high temperature microscopes, and the preparation and testing of hazardous compressed gases for experimental readiness.
	Experience in the operation of Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA) with Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA).
	Demonstrated experience in the maintenance, safe handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory chemicals, with a strong understanding of chemical properties, interactions, and associated hazards.
	Demonstrated ability to create safety documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Safe Work Instructions (JSI), and Risk Assessments (RA) and review and implement safety policies and procedures to enhance laboratory safety.
	Advanced ICT skills and familiarity with proprietary software for laboratory equipment.

	Completion of a degree or relevant technical qualification with subsequent relevant industry experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the implementation, testing, and validation of the high-frequency ultrasound research platform through experimental setup, data acquisition, software development, and day-to-day technical execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities


	Assist in the development, implementation, and testing of signal processing and imaging algorithms for high-frequency ultrasound structural and functional imaging.
	Support experimental setup, data collection, phantom preparation, system calibration, and routine operation of imaging hardware and associated measurement equipment.
	Conduct bench top and phantom experiments according to defined protocols, and assist in organizing, processing, and documenting experimental data.
	Develop and maintain software scripts, processing pipelines, and visualization tools for imaging experiments and performance evaluation.
	Support system integration activities involving sensors, data acquisition hardware, software interfaces, and computational workflows.
	Help prepare technical documentation, reports, figures, and datasets needed for project reviews, publications, and presentations.
	Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and equipment logs, and support procurement, setup, and troubleshooting of components and consumables.
	Assist in training and supporting students or project users in the use of the developed systems and software.
	Perform other project-related technical duties assigned by the Principal Investigator or senior research staff.


Job Requirements


	MTech, MSc, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.
	Good knowledge of signal processing, imaging, electronics, instrumentation, or medical device-related development.
	Hands-on experience in programming, preferably in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar environments.
	Experience in experimental work, data collection, and system troubleshooting is desirable.
	Familiarity with ultrasound imaging, biomedical instrumentation, image processing, or machine learning is desirable.
	Ability to follow technical protocols accurately and to maintain clear documentation of work performed.
	Ability to work effectively both independently and under the guidance of senior researchers.
