President University was conceived jointly by an Indonesian industrialist and the vice-chancellor of an ߣߣ��Ƶn university. The aim was to create a higher education institution that would train future leaders of industry and society. 

President University was officially opened in 2001 – though at the time it was known as Cikarang School of Engineering and offered only an engineering degree. Its lush, palm-covered campus is in Bekasi, in the Indonesian province of West Java, about 15-20km from the capital city, Jakarta.

By 2004, the renamed President University had achieved full-fledged university status. Today, it offers 26 undergraduate degrees across seven faculties: art, design and architecture; business; artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing; engineering; law; medicine; and social science and education. 

President University Student Housing – known as Push – provides several residential sites. These include the Student Boarding House and the more aspirational New Beverly Hills. In all accommodation, students are provided with pastoral programmes that aim to strengthen academic and leadership skills, and enhance social development. 

The university say that it wants its facilities to “support student life and well-being”. These include a palm-lined swimming pool, a cinema and golf course, as well as a TV and radio station, music studio and inclusive prayer spaces. 

Student clubs and societies are divided into five categories: religion; art; sports; regions; and interests.  Students are able to choose from a diverse array of activities, including scuba diving, photography, choir, karate and the intriguingly named Mr and Mrs club.
