Shahrisabz State Pedagogical Institute is a public higher education institution established on 24 June 2022 by presidential decree in Uzbekistan. It was formed by transforming the Pedagogical Institute of Karshi State University into an independent institute.
Previously, the Karshi branch had operated under Tashkent State Pedagogical University from the 2019-2020 academic year. The institute is located in Shahrisabz, Kashkadarya region.
The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in pedagogy, preschool and primary education, fine arts and engineering graphics, music education, Uzbek and foreign languages and literature, technological education, psychology, geography, physics, astronomy, history, and social and humanities studies.��
The campus serves over 9,500 students, with three dormitories housing 1,360 students. Dormitories are equipped with new beds, furniture, kitchens, laundry facilities, toilets, and spiritual rooms with literature and computers.��
Student life is supported through community clubs, sports facilities, health care services, accessibility for students with disabilities, and social rooms.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nutritional Epidemiology

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in nutritional epidemiology, with a focus on dietary patterns, lifestyle monitoring, and health outcomes in large populations.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Nutritional Epidemiology or a related field, with substantial experience in dietary analysis, epidemiologic study design, big data handling, and dietary pattern deduction. They must demonstrate proven expertise in nutritional epidemiology, particularly in linking dietary pattern identification to health outcomes, and preference will be given to those with specialized experience in diet and health research in large population cohorts. The appointee is expected to demonstrate both independent research capabilities and effective team collaboration, manage ongoing research projects on lifestyle monitoring and intervention, publish original research articles in high-impact journals, assist PIs in writing external competitive grants, and develop their own SEED funding applications. This position offers excellent mentorship and access to large-scale cohort data in a collaborative research environment.��

The Division of Microbial Ecology (https://dome.univie.ac.at/) at the University of Vienna’s Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science is one of the world’s leading research institutes, focusing on understanding the structure and function of microbiomes with the goal to address current global challenges from human to planetary health.

The contract for this position is limited to 3 years.

Your future tasks:

The postdoctoral researcher will be working on developing biochemical methods to study the metabolism of nitrifying bacteria and archaea. As a significant part of these processes takes place in the cellular membrane, this will require the development of biochemical assays compatible with membrane proteins. Moreover, these model systems should be compatible with cryo-electron microscopy so that both the biochemical activity and structural changes of the proteins can be studied within the same system. In addition to the challenge posed by the membrane environment, metabolic activity often depends on the presence of a transmembrane proton gradient and an electrostatic potential difference across the lipid bilayer. An additional goal of this postdoctoral project will be to develop model systems in which these gradients can be established, manipulated, and measured.

	Experience in protein purification and working with membrane proteins
	Experience in sample preparation techniques for cryo-electron microscopy and should be familiar with the software used to process cryo-EM data and building protein structures��
	The ideal candidate will also be familiar with the metabolism of nitrifiers and have experience in developing biochemical assays to study protein activity
	Experience working with model systems of the cellular membrane such as liposomes or submitochondrial particles is considered a plus
	PhD in a relevant field

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), co-PIs, research team and industry partners to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Conduct insights-driven evaluations of existing QA/QC testing practices and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce redundant testing while maintaining compliance.
	Curate, standardize and integrate historical and statistical data to form the foundation of a structured database for construction QA/QC and traceability.
	Design and implement a digital chain-of-custody framework that captures assurance records including mill certificates, fabrication data, inspection results and carbon footprint information.
	Develop, train and validate AI models to automate QA/QC processes, enabling real-time verification, anomaly detection and consistency checks across records.
	Develop a cloud-based verification platform for digital data collection and real-time analytics.
	Develop and apply non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and data-driven approaches to determine material properties of reclaimed steel.
	Investigate geometric imperfections, accumulated deformations, and their impact on structural performance, particularly for compression members.
	Develop data-driven reusability assessment platforms integrating NDT data, machine learning models, and RFID-enabled traceability systems.
	Prepare and draft technical reports, conference/journal papers, and presentation materials; present research findings to internal reviews, industry partners and stakeholders.
	Engage with industry stakeholders throughout development, testing and refinement to ensure alignment with real-world requirements.
	To communicate in any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
	Any ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor.


��Job Requirements


	Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Civil/Construction Engineering, Engineering Systems or equivalent.
	Strong foundation in data engineering, AI/ML development, and software systems (e.g., data pipelines, cloud services, dashboards, web-based application development).
	Experience in handling real-world datasets and model development/deployment workflows.
	Domain expertise in building construction/civil/structural engineering, including familiarity with building management systems, software integration, data collection and analysis.
	Knowledge of construction QA/QC and quality control workflows (e.g., inspection processes, test documentation, traceability and compliance records) is an advantage.
	Strong background in structural engineering, structural mechanics, or steel structures.
	Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for structural materials is desirable.
	Experience with structural modelling and analysis tools (e.g., finite element modelling, structural simulation) is desirable.
	Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
	Strong analytical and conceptual abilities; able to work both in a team and independently.
	Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
