Sulaimani Polytechnic University

Sulaimani Polytechnic University was originally founded in 1996 as the Foundation of Technical Institutions. In 2003 it was renamed Foundation of Technical Education in Sulaimani. It was granted university status in 2012 and became Sulaimani Polytechnic University. 
The university’s main campus is located in Sulaymaniyah, a city in Iraq.
There are also campuses situated in the towns of Dukan, Kalar, Halabja, Chamchamal, Darbandikhan and Khanaqin. 
The university is organised academically into five colleges: technical college of engineering, technical college of informatics, technical college of administration, college of medical and health technologies, and the technical college of applied sciences. Each college is divided into different departments, which offer a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate degree level. 
The Research Centre at the university welcomes local and international scholars to carry out research in a variety of fields including software engineering, environmental studies, agricultural science, engineering urban design and city planning, and biomedicine. 
In 2014 the university opened its International English Language Centre. The centre provides courses to the university’s students and staff, as well as members of the public.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to investigate the effect of explosions and impacts on thin steel plates.

 

Key Responsibilities


	All jobs are accountable for producing a range of outputs or end-results. Please state the major activities carried out to achieve the end results (what needs to be done to achieve the end results)
	Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. 
	Undertake these responsibilities in the project: 
	i.    Coordinates with collaborators and service provider the organization and execution of blast and impact tests. Ensure the required data is collected and that it is analysed as needed
	ii.    Conduct numerical simulations using LS-Dyna and OpenRadioss to further the understanding of the phenomena and calibrate empirical/analytical models.  
	Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
	Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
	To communicate with any internal and external stakeholders required to meet the project deliverables.
	Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor.


 

Job Requirements


	Have relevant competence in the areas of Finite Element simulations and experimental work
	Have a degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous
	Knowledge of shock mechanics and protection engineering will be advantageous
	Knowledge of non linear materials modelling would be advantageous

	Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university.

	Have some experience in the use of advanced FEM analysis. This could include experience in ABAQUS, LS-Dyna, Radioss or equivalent software.

	Show strong initiative and take ownership of work

About the opportunity

The Research Integrity and Ethics Support Officer coordinates administrative and operational services for the Research Integrity and Ethics Administration (RIEA) team. Working across research integrity, human and animal ethics, scheduled drugs compliance and data governance functions, you will play a key role supporting projects, training initiatives, reporting activities and stakeholder engagement across the University.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive professional who enjoys working across multiple teams, managing a varied workload and contributing to initiatives that support the responsible conduct of research.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	coordinate administrative and operational support for the Research Integrity and Ethics Administration team
	organise meetings, training programs, presentations and events for staff, students and committee members
	support the delivery of projects, initiatives and compliance activities across multiple research governance functions
	manage stakeholder communications and build effective working relationships across faculties and professional service units
	coordinate reporting activities, including data collection, analysis and preparation of reports
	apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures to support operational and compliance requirements.


About you


	experience in operational, administrative or project support roles, preferably within a complex organisation
	experience collecting, analysing and reporting on operational or compliance data
	demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies and procedural requirements
	proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using business systems and databases
	tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
	experience within the higher education sector and familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI will be highly regarded.

Job Description


	This position is for Centre for Research on Intelligent Software Engineering (RISE).
	Support the collection of LLM applications, including web applications, mobile applications and others.
	Support the implementation and maintenance of the automated component analysis pipeline for LLM applications.
	Construct and maintain the datasets and benchmarks for the components, and support experimental evaluation.
	Coordinate project activities, including meetings, progress reporting and deliverable tracking.
	Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


	Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines.
	Minimum 1 years of relevant research experience in AI, data analysis or cybersecurity.
	Basic knowledge/Proficiency in programming software/languages such as Python and Java will be positively considered/ is required.
	Demonstrated experience and know-how on software analysis and data analysis.
	Experience with at least one programming software/languages, such as Python, C or Java is preferred.
	Excellent working knowledge of data analysis, program analysis and vulnerability analysis.
	Good analytical, technical and problem solving skills.
	Applicants with research publications in AI, software engineering and cybersecurity area will be advantageous.
	Self-motivated individual who can work independently and also collaboratively with team members.
