Research focus and project overview Our lab investigates the core and multifaceted pathophysiological mechanisms of major psychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on bipolar disorder, as well as schizophrenia and major depression. We aim to develop mechanistic models of severe mental illness, integrating clinical, neuroimaging, physiological, and immunological data within unified theoretical frameworks. Our work has been published in leading journals including Nature Mental Health, Molecular Psychiatry, and PNAS. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/paola.magioncalda.1/bibliography/public/) The successful candidate will play a central role in advancing neuroimaging analyses and multimodal integration. Available datasets include structural MRI, diffusion MRI, and resting-state functional MRI. Ongoing data collection includes multimodal neuroimaging, actigraphy and physiological monitoring, electroretinography, and blood data.
