It was founded in 1988.

The university has eight campuses in Santiago, Viña del Mar, and Concepción.

Students are able to choose form three different study programmes. The Traditional programme offersday and evening programmes and is best suited to high school graduates, while the Executive and Executive Online programmes offer evening and online classes for professionals studying alongside their jobs.

There are six faculties at the university including architecture, animation, design and construction; education; veterinary science and agronomy; communications and arts; engineering and business and health and social sciences. There is also a law school.

In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. Duties and Responsibilities Report toDirector (RWSAC) and lead the scientific and methodological core of the RWSAC. Provide scientific leadership in the design, execution, and analysis of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. Oversee the development and validation of the common data model and the data integration platform for use in healthcare research. Ensure analytical methodologies are robust, reproducible, and compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines. Lead the exploration and application of innovative analytical approaches. Manage a team of data scientists and business intelligence (BI) professionals, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous methodological improvement. Collaborate with the Data Scientist (AI) to integrate advanced AI/ML techniques into the RWE generation pipeline. Requirements PhD degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Informatics or related disciplines. Preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience in epidemiology, data management, programming and statistics at supervisory level. Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, or similar tools; experience with big data platforms, machine learning, and data warehousing. Commitment to quality, integrity, confidentiality and compliance. Excellent leadership, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholders’ management skills. Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and self-motivated. A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including both Cantonese and Putonghua). Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will work on a cross-institutional project dedicated to supporting primary students in Hong Kong to learn Chinese, and to enhance their use of Chinese as a medium of learning. Reporting to the Project Leader, he/she will assist Project Team Heads in managing the development and operation of the project. Key responsibilities include liaising with the project funder, other project partners, project schools and teachers, arranging school visits, organising dissemination activities, monitoring project progress, and handling other logistical aspects of project implementation, such as human resources, finance, etc.; and other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). We are adynamic, growing team of bioinformaticians and data scientists at CEITEC, building the European infrastructure for secure, federated analysis of sensitive genomic and health data – and we are looking for a SeniorResearcher/ Staff Scientist in Federated Genomic Data Infrastructure About this position The Bioinformatics Core Facility at CEITEC works on the infrastructure for storing, sharing, and – above all – performing federated analysis on sensitive genomic and other omics data across Europe. Through the ELIXIR research infrastructure and initiatives such as the Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI), the 1+Million Genomes (1+MG) initiative, and Genome of Europe, we are one of the major players in this field in Europe. This is highly collaborative, distributed work. Much of it does not happen within asingle lab but across anetwork of partners – institutional IT teams, national infrastructure bodies, and collaborators across Europe – and our role is to coordinate and integrate these efforts, keeping them moving. Agrowing and increasingly important part of the work is enabling AI, and in particular agentic AI systems, to operate safely on sensitive data within this distributed infrastructure, in service of translational and clinical research and the wider handling of sensitive healthcare data. We are looking for asenior, independent researcher / staff scientist to take aleading technical role across these projects – someone who can drive their own work, coordinate and mentor more junior colleagues, and act as aconfident point of contact with our partners. This is ahighly visible, Europe-wide role at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and the life sciences, and it is fundamentally about handling acomplex, multi-party effort rather than working in isolation. Your profile Must-have: A PhD (or equivalent experience). We have no hard requirement on the specific field, provided it falls within the range from bioinformatics through to computer science and IT/software development, or aclosely related technical area Solid, hands-on experience spanning bioinformatics analysis and workflows, bioinformatics infrastructure and software for data analysis, and/or broader IT and software development, in arapidly evolving environment where AI is becoming inherent to everything we do; experience with omics and multi-omics data is astrong plus.
