University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Strategy and Reporting Officer, in Strategy and Planning Team You will play a key role in supporting the Strategy and Planning Team to gain an up-to-date understanding of the higher education sector, and to inform strategic development and performance management from an outside-in perspective. This role will be responsible for the regular preparation and reporting of university and subject-level rankings, developing benchmarking reports, and supporting policy research, external university ratings, as well as other strategy and planning related projects. Your key responsibilities include: Support the regular preparation, analysis and reporting of university-level and subject-level external rankings. Collect, verify, analyse and report ranking-related information to support timely monitoring and objective understanding of league tables. Monitor ranking methodologies, trends and external recognition schemes, including subject rankings, programme rankings and highly cited scholar-related recognition. Support ranking-related briefing sessions and respond to enquiries from key stakeholders. Analyse methodology changes and support the interpretation of links between ranking metrics and the University’s strategic priorities. Support horizon scanning and institutional research projects to inform strategic positioning, annual priorities and understanding of the higher education sector. Collect and analyse internal and external data to support specialised institutional research, policy research and strategic analysis. Support the regular update of the University benchmarking report, including metrics design, data collection, verification, analysis and report development. Support university ratings, awards and other external recognition applications by coordinating information collection, simulation analysis and stakeholder engagement. Support internal and external engagements, briefing meetings, team activities and other reasonable tasks related to University strategy and performance. About You Bachelor’s degree or above, with a first degree from a respected institution; an international education background is preferred. At least two years of work experience in education consultancy, institutional research, or data analysis related roles. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus. Data-sensitive, with logical thinking and proven analytical skills to independently perform institutional research tasks. Ability to produce excellent reports in both English and Chinese, and to use English as a working language. Proactive working attitude, strong teamwork skills, and excellent communication skills. In the School of Veterinary Medicine, you will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative team of researchers conducting cutting-edge research in infectious and non-communicable diseases and experts from world class veterinary institutes as well as an established network of veterinary practices through our many collaborative partnerships. The School of Veterinary Medicine currently holds over £7m in external research support for animal and human microbiome projects. A vibrant and collaborative community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students are currently working on microbiome projects ranging from in vitro studies of antimicrobial resistance to helminth and parasiticide interactions with the microbiome to early-life microbiome of foals. In-house technologies supported by the University include both Illumina and nanopore sequencing platforms, Luminex-read multiplex immunoassay of cytokines, Biolog metabolic fingerprinting and aerobic/anaerobic culturomics. Data processing and analysis is supported by the University’s Bioinformatics Core Facility. Examples of current projects are available at Horse Microbiome Research Group and Anthelmintic Resistance in Southeast Asia (AHR-SEA) and La Ragione Research Group. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Microbiome Science to further grow and sustain research in this field at the University of Surrey. About the role Within the School of Veterinary Medicine, you will join the Section of Infection and Immunity within the Discipline of Comparative Biomedical Sciences. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The Research Engineer (Microgrid Controller Design) will contribute to a one-year applied research project funded by the Singapore Army, focusing on the development of a mobile DC microgrid for military tactical applications. The role involves designing and implementing advanced control algorithms to coordinate multiple energy sources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and diesel generators, and dynamically assign grid-forming roles under varying operating conditions. The engineer will develop, simulate, and test controller logic using MATLAB/Simulink or similar environments, analyse performance across diverse scenarios, and document results for technical reporting. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in control systems, software development, and power or energy management applications. Key Responsibilities Participate in the research project to design a mobile DC microgrid controller for military tactical applications. Develop control algorithms for dynamic master selection, coordinating BESS, PV, diesel generators, and other sources. Implement predictive, rule-based, or optimisation-based control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or embedded software tools. Integrate controller logic with the microgrid model and validate performance under different simulated conditions. Experience in microgrid controller design is advantageous. Familiarity with BESS control strategies, SOC management, or optimisation algorithms preferred.
