Your personal sphere of influence: As a university assistant, you will join the Vienna Doctoral School of Theology and Research on Religion VDTR and become part of your supervisor’s research team. The VDTR is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Catholic Theology, the Faculty of Protestant Theology, and the Research Centre Religion and Transformation. Its supervising members bring diverse disciplinary backgrounds and strong track records in theology and religion-related research. Doctoral candidates participate in a vibrant network spanning Alevi, Islamic, Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant theology, as well as religious studies, Islamic studies, Jewish studies, and philosophy of religion. Most of your time will be devoted to your doctoral thesis. You will also contribute to publications and presentations, support VDTR activities—such as organizing meetings, conferences, and symposia with your peers—and take part in teaching, including independent teaching as defined by the collective agreement and agreed with your supervisor. As an interdisciplinary doctoral school, we seek colleagues who are curious about and open to interdisciplinary dialogue. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in research projects. You work on your dissertation and its completion. We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration. This is part of your personality: Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Alevi, Catholic, Islamic, Orthodox, or Protestant theology, religious studies, Jewish studies, Islamic studies, philosophy, or a related field (applications before degree completion are possible; the degree must be completed by 31 August 2026) Basic experience in academic writing and discipline-specific research methods Didactic competence and relevant IT/e-learning skills for your research field Excellent written and spoken command of English or German (C1), with good command of the other language Team player with good social skills; interdisciplinary research experience an asset What we offer: The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. The School of Veterinary Medicine currently holds over £7m in external research support for animal and human microbiome projects. A vibrant and collaborative community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students are currently working on microbiome projects ranging from in vitro studies of antimicrobial resistance to helminth and parasiticide interactions with the microbiome to early-life microbiome of foals. In-house technologies supported by the University include both Illumina and nanopore sequencing platforms, Luminex-read multiplex immunoassay of cytokines, Biolog metabolic fingerprinting and aerobic/anaerobic culturomics. Data processing and analysis is supported by the University’s Bioinformatics Core Facility. Examples of current projects are available at Horse Microbiome Research Group and Anthelmintic Resistance in Southeast Asia (AHR-SEA) and La Ragione Research Group. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Microbiome Science to further grow and sustain research in this field at the University of Surrey. About the role Within the School of Veterinary Medicine, you will join the Section of Infection and Immunity within the Discipline of Comparative Biomedical Sciences. In the role you will: Establish and lead a sustainable research group generating high quality publications and demonstrable impact Secure significant research income to support the work of your research group Mentor postgraduate research students and postdoctoral fellows Initiate cross-disciplinary research collaborations allowing novel, multi-disciplinary insights into animal and human health and disease Make high quality, research-led contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the School, including on the RCVS-accredited BVMSci veterinary degree course. About you Our Lecturers and Senior Lecturers play an important role in advancing research and innovation and influencing the future of the veterinary profession. We are looking for an exceptional marketing leader to be shape the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns across brand, reputation and student recruitment for the University of Southampton. This role shapes and delivers high-impact, audience-focused integrated marketing campaigns across global markets, ensuring optimal use of paid, owned and earned channels to engage and convert our audiences and elevate our brand. The post holder will report to the Associate Director Marketing and Recruitment Events and liaise closely with the wider External Relations leadership during the briefing process and through regular reporting for each campaign strand. Acting as a senior leader, the role provides strategic direction and alignment across teams, joining up the dots and fostering collaboration with academic and Professional Services colleagues, students, and external partners. The post holder will lead of team of marketing managers and coordinators to deliver impactful activity across the full marketing mix from proposition development to promotion and conversion. They will be a vital link between a wide range of teams ensuring that we anticipate audience needs, respond to sector trends and that our campaigns are optimised to deliver the strategic outcomes the university is looking for. This postholder will require excellent communication skills and should enjoy leading a busy team in a large organisation. The ability to solve complex challenges, collaborate well with a range of stakeholders and respond to changing market conditions are critical elements of this role.
