The University of East Sarajevo is a public university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in Republika Srpska. It was established in 1992 and serves students across multiple cities in the eastern part of the country.
It was founded following the restructuring of the University of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War and has since developed into a multi faculty institution.
It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across 17 faculties including medicine, economics, law, philosophy, engineering, agriculture, technology, arts, music, education, business economics, sports sciences and theology.
The university is decentralised, with faculties located in East Sarajevo, Pale, Foča, Bijeljina, Zvornik, Trebinje and Doboj. This structure allows it to serve a wide regional population.
It has approximately 8,000 students and over 900 academic staff.
Facilities include lecture halls, laboratories, research centres and specialised training environments, including medical education facilities in Foča.
The university maintains partnerships with institutions in Serbia and other regional partners, supporting academic exchange and research collaboration.
