About the University of Eldoret

Basic information and contact details for the University of Eldoret

The University of Eldoret is based in Eldoret, Kenya.

It was founded in 1946 as a farmer training centre, it became a teacher training centre in 1984 and a campus of Moi University in 1990.

In 2010 it reached university college status as Chepkoitel University College. It gained independence along with full public university status in 2013.

In 2014 it added a campus in Eldoret’s central business district.

It has schools of agriculture and biotechnology, business and management science, economics, education, engineering, environmental science, human resource development, and natural resource management.

A new fish genomics laboratory was opened in 2023.

The university has a partnership with the European Business University of Luxembourg to offer qualifications in artificial intelligence in April 2024.
