The University of San Agustin is an Augustinian, Catholic and Filipino educational institution situated in Iloilo City. It was founded by Augustinian friars on 15 July 1904 as Colegio de San Agustin in Iloilo City. It began as an elite preparatory school for boys and quickly grew, earning government recognition in 1912. By the 1930s it had established the College of Liberal Arts, College of Commerce and College of Law. In 1953 it became the first university in Western Visayas, officially adopting the name University of San Agustin.
Located in the heart of Iloilo City, the campus is home to historic landmarks such as Urdaneta Hall, one of the few structures to survive World War II. Today, it houses the university theatre and archives museum.
The University of San Agustin is organised into seven colleges: College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education, College of Commerce, College of Technology, College of Criminal Justice, College of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology, and the College of Law. There is also the Basic Education Department and the Graduate Studies School.
