University of Uyo was founded as a teachers college in 1983. It changed it name a few times including Advanced Training College, College of Education affiliated to the University of Port Harcourt and University of Cross River State before taking on its current identity as a Federal university in 1991.
It is based in Oyo the capital of the state of Akwa Ikbom. The main campus, a 1443 hectare site. three miles from the city centre and accommodates central administration, the postgraduate school, the faculties of natural and applied science, and agriculture as well as the centre for energy and environmental sustainability research.
The town campus is where the faculties of arts, education, social science and pharmacy are located while the annexe campus hosts business administration, law, environmental studies and general studies. Preparatory, pre-degree and special courses are taught at the Ime Umana campus while the college of health sciences is based at the Teaching Hospital, six miles from the main campus.
Facilities available to students include a 1,050-bed hostel with 50 places for disabled students and a new faculty of arts block.

The Centre of Cancer Medicine is a platform to facilitate the academic development of cancer medicine and oncology, and is created to foster collaboration among the cognate disciplines/ (sub)specialities within the Centre of Cancer Medicine/ School of Clinical Medicine, and with other Schools/ Departments/ Institutes/ Hospitals/ Colleges.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, with a specialist qualification in Clinical Oncology/Medical Oncology recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or its equivalent. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical service, research and teaching, and will be expected to help further strengthen the Centre’s teaching in Cancer Medicine across the broad spectrum of medical and health sciences education. Reporting to the Director ICTS, the AI Automation Architect will lead the strategic design, development, and deployment of intelligent automation solutions across enterprise systems. This role requires a visionary professional who can merge artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and robotic process automation (RPA) to streamline operations, reduce manual workload, and drive digital innovation. The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority on automation architecture, ensuring that all implemented solutions align with organizational goals, data governance standards, and emerging technologies in AI.

Primary Responsibilities


	Architect and Design Automation Systems: Develop and implement end-to-end AI-driven automation architectures to enhance both business and IT operations.
	Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional departments to identify automation opportunities leveraging AI/ML, natural language processing (NLP), and RPA technologies.
	Develop and Deploy Models: Build scalable, production-ready AI models and integrate them into enterprise systems through CI/CD pipelines.
	Tool and Platform Evaluation: Assess and recommend AI platforms, automation tools, and cloud-based solutions that best fit organizational strategy and scalability needs.

Qualification & Experience


	PhD, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
	Minimum 5 years of professional experience in AI/ML development, automation architecture, or software engineering.
	Advanced proficiency in Python, and familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
	Practical experience with RPA platforms like UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism.
	Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
	Solid understanding of data engineering, APIs, microservices, and system integration.
	Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate technical solutions into business value.
	Industry certifications in AI/ML, Cloud Architecture, or RPA technologies.
	Experience in AutoML, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Generative AI applications.
	Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.


Note: This position requires someone who can work long hours and sometimes weekends as well as when required.

Full-time Research Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education (Ref.:536916)

Applications are invited for the captioned post. The successful candidate will be involved in a specific research project related to hearing health management.

This Research Assistant Professor position for a large-scale hearing Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) is responsible for leading the scientific design, oversight, and execution of the study while managing research staff and ensuring rigorous data integrity.

Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent doctorate in audiology, hearing science, or a related field, combined with proven experience in managing research projects. They should have a strong publication record in auditory research and demonstrate a keen interest in hearing screening and/or hearing device fitting. Experience in managing complex, multi-site clinical trials and supervising interdisciplinary teams will be advantageous.

The appointee will be responsible for developing and refining scientific protocols, overseeing data collection and analysis using advanced statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R), and ensuring compliance with international standards. He/She must demonstrate strong English communication skills and be able to understand Chinese, preferably Cantonese.

Job duties:


	Develop a research protocol for a large-scale RCT study that involves hearing screening, hearing device fitting and other interventions, and outcome measurement
	Manage the research project including data auditing, ethics application, and staff training in hearing screening
	Prepare test materials, analyze data, and provide staff training on issues related to hearing devices
	Write specifications and assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in hearing device tendering processes
	Work with the PI and investigators on an intervention package and developing a manual for scaling the outcomes of the project for use in primary healthcare and community settings
	Document and report research findings, for example, via presentations at local and international conferences and peer‑reviewed publications in top‑tier journals
	Perform other duties as assigned


The appointment will commence on 1 November 2026 and end on 31 October 2029, on a three-year fixed-term basis.

The Strategy Delivery Unit is focused on co-ordinating and facilitating the implementation of the University's ambitious strategic plans. There are three teams within the unit covering the activities of portfolio management, change and project delivery and continuous improvement. The role will sit in the Change and Projects team but will deliver projects across the University.

The purpose of the role is to manage the delivery of projects within assigned parameters including scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resource.

The role will be required to:


	Lead the planning and implementation of projects
	Collect and analyse stakeholder feedback to help define needs and requirements and the design of key deliverables
	Oversee and manage project scope, tasks, deliverables, and timelines
	Identify and manage project dependencies and the critical path
	Matrix manage staff teams
	Facilitate the delivery of benefits


The successful candidate will be an experienced project manager with a good understanding of project and change methodologies and techniques. They will be able to build trusted relationships with teams across the university, will be a good communicator, and will be tenacious and pragmatic. They will have experience of delivering change in complex environments, plus, they will be excited about - and motivated by - Durham University's ambition and the opportunity to play a key part in making it happen.

This is a hybrid role with a minimum expectation of two office-based days each week. Candidates should be willing and able to increase their office attendance, up to five days per week when required by business needs.
